The design and operation of Kalkhoff electric bicycles differs significantly from other
e-bikes currently offered in the United States, most of which use either front- or
rear-powered hubs and many of which require the use of inefficient throttles. The Kalkhoff design presents an alternative that is both elegant and efficient.
The Kalkhoff pedelec system seamlessly applies power from the center-mounted
electric motor directly to the bicycle’s drive train. The level of motor assistance is
dictated by the amount of power the rider generates while pedaling. A torque
sensor continuously measures the rider’s power output, and the motor delivers a pre-selected percentage of additional assistance ranging from 50% to 150% on top of what the rider produces.
With a range of up to 50 miles per charge, Kalkhoff e-bikes can cover your daily
distances including hills and then some. The bikes look, feel and ride like standard
bicycles and are built with the same high-quality frames and components as the
