OPERATION ICE BIKE
In 2001, national champion cyclist, bicycle innovator, and NASA aerospace engineer, Dan Hanebrink was approached by a polar explorer looking for an alternative to skis that could take him and his equipment across the icy terrain of Antarctica.
Dan created a bicycle unlike anything ever built before. The original “Ice Bike” by Hanebrink had no plastic parts and used super fat, low-pressure tires that devoured all surfaces in all conditions silently and effortlessly. After the success of the Antarctic expedition, Time magazine named Hanebrink's Ice Bike one of the coolest inventions of 2003. |
