Manufactured
in Quebec, Canada, The Bionx (pronounced by-on-ex) electric
bike motor conversion kits are reliable, lightweight and
offer a range of up to 60 miles to a charge.
The
standard Bionx system includes a control console, a battery
and a wheel/motor. The
Bionx system can be installed on most bicycles by replacing
the rear wheel with the Bionx motor-wheel. The Bionx system
can be retrofitted on just about any bicycle type: road,
mountain, tandem, folding and recumbents.
The
Bionx kit includes, a spoked wheel with motor, console,
battery mount with cables, battery pack and charger.
Wheel
sizes: 700c, 26", 24", 20", 18", all with a standard
135 mm rear drop-out.
Gearing
installation is easy with a threaded free wheel.
The
BionX system can be installed on a tandem, folding
bike or recumbent; any bicycle with a standard shifting
system.
The
Bionx control console includes a programmable anti-theft
alarm and a thumb throttle for instant acceleration.
The
Bionx motor wheel is compatible with disc or rim
brakes.
Variable-speed
thumb throttles are included with all Bionx 350
and 500 wat electric conversion kits.

VIDEO: Alex from Bionx explains the inner
workings of the Bionx motor and tells us how to be
as fast Lance Armstrong without taking pills.
Magnetic
Field Drive Technology: The Bionx motor is a high performance direct
drive, grearles and brushless hub motor. Equipped
with magnetic field drive technology, the external
magnets turn whereas the stator is stationary. No
friction inside the Bionx motor means no wear on internal
parts resulting in a motor that will last for years.
Intelligent
Assistance System:
Using an on-board microprocessor, the Bionx motor
is measuring your thrusting power (through chain torque)
and compensates for your weakest leg insuring a smooth
progression while accellerating.
ASSISTANCE
Bionx
is ideal for riders that want to ride longer and keep up
with the pack or those that want help up hills and against
the wind. Four assistance levels amplify the cyclist’effort
by 25%, 50%, 100% or 300%, allowing the cyclist to ride
faster while giving the same effort (or ride at the same
speed with less effort). Each assistance level is proportional
to the rider’s effort.
GENERATION
Bionx offers four levels of power generation. Regenerative
braking activates when the rear handbrake is used. It is
possible to charge the Bionx battery pack by pedaling against
motor resistance. Generation mode makes it harder to pedal
so its often used when going downhill. Please note that
the generative mode does not replace the existing brakes,
but
considerably
increases braking quality, especially on extended downhill
runs.
Command
Console
Mounted on your bicycle's handlebars, the Bionx console
is equipped with a two-mode microprocessor that provides
both assistance and generation modes. Other features
include a multifunction odometer, battery gauge and
even a programmable alarm that goes off when the bike
is moved.
A
thumb throttle allows for power-assistance
from the motor whether you pedal or not. The thumb
throttle is included with all Bionx kits at Electric
Cyclery.
Electric
Cyclery has a steady supply of
Bionx kits including the more powerful 500 watt
motors with the option of pedal assist or instant
acceleration with a variable thumb throttle.
The lightweight power of new Lithium-Ion battery
packs give the Bionx system extended range and
a less added weight.

The
Bionx systems require a thread-on freewheel for rear
wheel gearing. If you are unsure as to what
size freewheel is needed, simply count the number
of sprockets on the rear wheel. Electric Cyclery customers
have the option of ordering a 7, 8, or 9 speed freewheel
with any of the Bionx conversion kits on checkout.
